Nicolas Belfrage: Color code 5; old gold, bright. Some herbs and dried apple on the nose, the medicinal hints carried through to the palate. Acid a bit fierce—one for lovers of the dryer style, not that it’s dry in terms of sugar but in terms of uppish acid. Some burned caramel on the finish and good but not exceptional length. 14
Michael Edwards: Vivid amber; shimmering hue. Nose of rich Mediterranean fruit—figs, dates, apricots—in an unctuously uncompromising Vin Santo style. Mouth-filling palate, sweet, raisiny, intense, but all qualities in good balance. 16
Jancis Robinson: Vibrant orangey tawny, with some green at the rim. Rather voluptuous, rich, raisiny aromas—like raisins steeped in tea. Fairly low in acidity. Nutty, dry finish. Mossy green notes on the finish. Flattering wine, but it ends just a little sickly. Drink 2006–16. 16
Franco Ziliani: Amber-mahogany color, very fresh and lively. Complex, ripe, creamy notes; ripe fruit, dried fruit, bitter orange, chestnut honey, almond, fig, dried plums, and just a few salty and mineral notes. Great consistency on the palate, very broad, with masses and masses of dried fruit but with a fantastic freshness that balances the whole and gives a long finish. 16.5
