Essi Avellan: Intense lemon color. Mild toasty layers on the ripe, fruity, appley nose. Smoke, dust, and peach marmalade. Soft and on the vinous side. The bubbles seem a little disintegrated from the winey whole. Medium-long, straightforward, and fruity finish. 88
Simon Field: Straw, with flecks of green, and small, elegant bubbles; a pleasant nose of quince, preserved lemons, and soap stone; the palate is sweeter than anticipated, the dosage therefore intrusive, and there are one or two rough edges. Maybe take a few more risks with less sugar and thereby invite more by way of harmony? The quality of the raw materials is unchallenged, however. 88
Anthony Rose: Pale gold in color, this is fresh-smelling, almost like white Burgundy; a bright attack of pinprick bubbles on the tongue, with refreshingly crisp, appley Chardonnay fruit, a savory apple-skin tang to the refreshingly dry fruit quality, and behind it a saline mineral note with a nice underlying chalkiness. 92
