Essi Avellan: Deep raspberry color. Sweet nose of primary fruit. Strawberries and red cherries. Highly youthful. Wide palate, on the vinous side. Mild mousse and a little phenolic bite on the back-palate. Unusual style, with good fruitiness but a straightforward overall impression. 89
Simon Field: Magenta color, rosehips that are fully ripe. The deepest blush. One’s expectation of a syrupy nose are only partially met, which is no bad thing; rosehips again, crushed raspberry and soft spice, cinnamon, maybe... a vinous perfumed style; peonies and violets, blackberries and wild cherry. The tension that one equates with Champagne has been dulled by Pinot intrigue, forest floors strewn with cherries and other berries... a pleasant surprise. Perish the thought that one might judge by appearances alone! 90
Anthony Rose: The color is so deep red that it looks a bit like cherryade in the glass; and perhaps it’s the power of suggestion but it also smells a bit like cherryade, albeit an alcoholic one; as for the taste, it’s fruity, with black-cherry and blackberry notes, on the simple side, more than a tad grippy, and probably a good summer’s day refresher, as well as a good rosé fizz for food. 87
