Andrew Jefford | Dark red-black with some purple; no longer opaque. Sweet, softly defined blackcurrant and black cherry, with some powdered stone warmth. Lively and fresh, though an edgier wine than the aromas led one to expect, with as much redcurrant as blackcurrant. Great purity and drive, though, and more palate wealth than its stablemate d’Armailhac, with some structured tannins and a sense of stony, gravelly persistence. True Pauillac, albeit Pauillac from a cool summer—a Pauillac to refresh. | 90
