Simon Field | Dull green-gold, then a nose of smoke, incense, and rather subdued peach. Any intimation of subjugation is immediately challenged by the palate, which is diffuse, miasmic, and somewhat jejune, the fruit not held adequately in check by the acidity and the structure a little ponderous. | 85

Andrew Jefford | Almost old-gold already: very deeply colored. Ample, lusciously tangy honey, with mellow, squashy peach to smell. A gingery complexity completes the emphatic, generous whole. Rich, full, tangy, with sweetness and acidity but somehow not much fat, succulence, or complexity between. Enjoyable but rather simple in a vintage when genuinely fine Sauternes was eminently possible. | 82
