Andrew Jefford | Dark purple-black-red in color, though just translucent now. Fresh and engaging: blackcurrant and privet or box, but not markedly green. Ample fresh charm. Very quick and edgy; lesser sites up here have really struggled for wealth and fullness in this vintage. (Août has betrayed the moût.) It’s clean, brisk, and pristine, though I would find it’s ultra-lean balance a struggle to enjoy on its own; perhaps, like Barbera, it might work wonders with rich food. And don’t wait. | 86

Michael Schuster | Dark ruby; fresh, minerally nose; light, fresh to crisp, lightly tannic wine; redcurrant savory to taste, with an attractive fruit presence, modest in scope, but nice in the year, in its crisper 2017 style. Now to 2027. | 86
