Simon Field | A band of Tuscan gold, the aromatic composed, quite restrained; oil, smoky, exotic, and complex, all at the same time; viscosity writ large without falling into caricature. The palate assumes a luminosity; a Claude Lorraine vista at dusk, the tension of the edifice, rococo by design, challenging all the way down the palate and, gradually, into the recesses of the memory... | 91
Andrew Jefford | Classical burnished pale gold at this stage. Mmm... super-classy note of celestial peach juice, a little buttered pineapple and perfectly whipped Chantilly cream. It’s not complex as yet but is so pure and pristine, seductive and inviting. Just give it time. Rich, dense, seamless, and lush on the palate, and very much as the nose suggested, save that the peach and pineapple rather lord it over the cream. But we’re not complaining. Ultra-sweet, luscious, and generous, and very dense and concentrated, too: magnificent sweet wine, with richness seeping from every pore. It’s coming on so strongly already that one is tempted to say, “You’re peaking too soon” but, well, let’s see; there’s huge depth here. So rich it’s salty-sweet; the sweetness topples over itself into a salty edge, somehow, or so it seems. A totally lovely wine object. | 95
