Andrew Jefford | Dark black-purple in color, just off opaque at the core. Fresh, earthy, and refined to smell: a classic, bright, old-style nose in this slightly retro vintage of 20th-century charm. Frank and inviting, with some plum, as well as blackcurrant. Exactly what the nose promised: a great draught of fruit. Pure, long, very true to the vintage, and just on the very first edge of ripeness. There are some light-framed tannins, if you look for them, though they are far from tongue-coating. I wouldn’t wait too long for this, but dive into the exuberance soon. | 90
Michael Schuster | Gentle oak-cedar and gravel nose over a ripe red fruit; medium-full, finely tannic, nicely balanced in its crisp 2017 style. Red fruit to taste, some length of flavor but, as with so many, a bit acid-uncomfortable just now. This is good, but it will need and eventually reward time. 2025–35+. | 88
