BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin | Ink bomb. Very dense color. High-toned, aromatic, very youthful, with a hint of underlying greenness. Strange wine: a mixture of chalky acidity, deep color, lots of oak and brambly fruit, but slightly lacking in backbone and structure. That slight hollowness again… | 14

Alex Hunt | Intense, youthful purple color, and a heady blueberry/kirsch nose. The palate, while a little bit hot in alcohol, does have a firm, very fine-grained tannic structure. The flavor at this point is slightly one-dimensional, but it’s a satisfying mouthful nonetheless. | 15

Stephan Reinhardt | Deep and dark violet. Rich and sweet, dark, and concentrated ripe fruit flavors, with earthy undertones; also raw meat. Rich and powerful on the palate, but also pure and elegant, this is a still-young yet well-balanced wine from an excellent terroir, probably dominated by slate soil. Very good length, very complex, very pure and powerful. Will become better and better over the next five to six years, when it will probably score 17. | 16.5
