BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin | Mid-ruby/red with some pink at the rim. Reductive nose that’s verging on cooked vegetables. The reduction continues on to the palate, subduing the fruit. High acid, with some sweet, raspberryish notes and a confected finish. Not a success. | 10

Alex Hunt | Plump, late-summer fruit aromas here: apricot, strawberry, currants. Pleasantly succulent up front, but a tough, sweaty finish (a bit of reduction, possibly). Sweet and sour; hot alcohol, too, since there’s insufficient intensity to cover it. | 12

Stephan Reinhardt | Mid-ruby. Very up-front cassis fruit, with earthy aromas, rather lean and not very complex, also quite reductive. Silky and well balanced, with good fruit character; quite sweet on the finish but lacks complexity. A rather simple wine. | 14
