Stephen Brook | Broad apricot fruit, attractive if not obviously Riesling. Rich, plump, rounded, juicy, and quite concentrated; it lacks some personality, though it does have varietal typicity. There’s sufficient acidity to give some zest, and it has well-judged weight of fruit behind it. Bland yet quite long, as though variety has trumped winemaking. | 16
Andrew Jefford | Full gold. Nice to try what is surely a slightly older wine, with its greater aromatic development. Lots of beautifully defined citrus—rich lemon and lime. Not hugely complex, but what aroma there is is pure and tempting. A little cream emerges with time in the glass, and then later that jonquil note one often finds in Australian Chardonnay. Excellent Riesling on the palate, too: light, shapely, pure, with every element in perfect balance and with all the aromatic purity one might wish for. Here the predominant flavor is citrus, with some apple and green grape, too. The alcohol seems spot on: not too low or high. The acidity is ripe, not austere or harsh, so site and picking decision have been well selected and made. It all adds up to gorgeous drinking—and all the Riesling classicism a European palate might want. | 17.5
Stephan Reinhardt | Pale to straw yellow. Very nice and elegant ripe fruit scents. Aromatic (and nicely mature) on the palate, good fruit flesh (pulp), ripe and dried apricots and peaches, good minerality, very well structured, powerful but elegant and medium-bodied. Reminds me of a ten-year-old Rheingau Riesling. | 16
