Stephen Brook | Lush lime-and-passion-fruit nose. Quite rich and suave, with good fruit but not much complexity. There’s ample underlying acidity that gradually dominates the palate, countering the apparent simplicity of the fruit. In short, this grows on me. The palate gains weight without losing its grip. Not entirely harmonious, in that the rather citric finish does tail off. | 15
Andrew Jefford | Pale silver-gold. Clean, fresh, sweetly powdery, as if the fruit and the ground stone had formed a fine dusty emulsion that was billowing in the air. Very lean and limpid on the palate, with a cascade of lime fruit. Super purity here; very true to the Riesling ideal on every front. This is an outstanding wine. Not, perhaps, an immensely complex wine but, in some ways, the perfect incarnation of what Clare Riesling is meant to be. Super drinking. There’s nothing in the world like this elsewhere. | 17.5
Stephan Reinhardt | Pale gold. Subtle Riesling aromas, some hay, good concentration. Rich and powerful but already drying in the end; quite short. Aggressive citrus flavors. Vitamin C. | 13
