Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red, though no longer opaque at the core. Round, warm, affable, and welcoming, though without the aromatic finesse and precision of the best of its peers. Classical as you like, for all that. Grand tannins for the vintage, allied to firm, close-textured, pure and resonant fruits: excellent wine, frank and faithful. If only there were a little more intrinsic warmth and ripeness, you could clearly see how this would have been a good or even very good vintage. As it is, this is a solid and satisfying reading of a fresh, cool year. Dutiful on the palate, whereas the aromas suggested a little more, but no one will feel short-changed. | 92
Michael Schuster | Crisply blackcurrant fruity to smell; full, bright in acidity, finely firm in tannin; a classically chewy textured Pauillac with length across the palate, a gently refined, ripe black fruit core, and a long and succulent finish. Satisfying, elegant, long-term, complete GPL. I’d give it time and look forward to a classy reward in a restrained 2017 vein. 2028–40+. | 90
