Andrew Jefford: dense black-red. Lovely, provocative, sensually beefy, almost musky, almost pheromonal palate attraction here: you can hardly help but end up in bed with this wine. and it’s all a matter of hints and understatement; nothing is spelled out: irresistible! Very big and buxom/muscular on the palate, with hugely lavish tannins and sensational palate width. Lush, easy, brambly, accessible, yet hugely fleshy and generous, with super-low acidity. If you’re obsessed with finesse, I wouldn’t seek out this wine. But if you want an intimate encounter with a red wine that is the very apogee of generosity, here it is! Mmmm. 17

Simon Larkin : this shares some aromatic similarity with the preceding example. Sweet ripe dark fruits, with the suggestion of background oak. here the impression fl ows—nothing disjointed, a greater sense of harmony, with spicy, peppery notes. I like the poise here, there is an enlivening acidity that brings valuable definition. It is warming on the finish, overtly so, but there is greater poise and elegance in this example. It does, nonetheless, pose the question as to whether these are more showpiece wines than consumption wines… 14.5

John Livingstone-Learmonth: Dark-hued robe. Slow burn, wide bouquet, breathes a warm land’s signal of deep dark fruit, with the fresh hover of the 2010 acidity clarifying it well. Enjoyable air of berries for now. The palate delivers a tasty, deep bundle of black-cherry fruit, and a close-knit lining of upbeat tannins that drive it in the late stages. Orchestration to come here over time, successfully. Has good, local charge and captures 2010 very well. Stylish and full, lots to consider and enjoy. The fruit runs a long way. From 2016 to 2031/33. 18
