Richard Mayson: Big and enveloping on the nose, lots of ripe fruit and toasty oak; very oaky on the palate, but it doesn’t quite dominate the fruit, which emerges with lovely minerally acidity on the finish. Quite taut, and the oak needs time to integrate. 17
Charles Metcalfe: Lovely, yellow-gold color. Rich and oaky but has opulent fruit as well. Glorious blend of ripe, subtropical and citrus fruits and creamy, toasty flavors. Lovely acidity buoying up the whole. Very satisfying, creamy texture and good length. For me, this is successful use of oak, though at full throttle. 17
Joanna Simon: Intense, smoky, herbal notes, together with some coconutty oak on the nose. Quite good intensity of spicy, herbal fruit on palate, and an oak-enriched texture balanced by acidity. But the coconut-oak flavor is a bit too dominant, and there’s a bit of heat on the finish. 14
