Andrew Jefford | Saturated deep black-red, opaque at the core. Fresh and appetizing: plum, leather, cured tobacco leaf, sweet beeswax. There’s just a hint of mixed ripeness here (which all of the top wines of the commune have managed to avoid), but there are lovely, tender, ripe, enticing notes, too. Deep-fruited and vivacious: pure plunging plums in lyrical style, backed by soft-falling tannins and with ready and ripe acid support. Emphatic, fresh, close-textured Pomerol, with a brisk, meaty bass line, too; only those mingled mentholly herbal elements hold it back from a top score. | 89
Michael Schuster | An early, ripe-fruited, lightly mineral- tinged bouquet, with the merest hint of herbal character; medium-full, fresh in acidity, finely firm-textured in tannin, a nicely balanced rich middleweight. Sweetly fruited, long, subtle, and fine across the palate, a refined expression of Pomerol, delicious, persistent, very successful. Lovely wine, expressive of the best of the year in the commune, but needing a bit of time to mellow and to bouquet. 2027–40+. | 92
