Andrew Jefford | Dark black-purple; very nearly opaque. Fresh and pungent, with a little bright, sweet- toned grassiness: a fragrant lift to give the fruits aerial poise. Concentrated but very cool and acidic. Perhaps you could call it racy, but the acidity very definitely has the upper hand. These are fine soils, and if you’re a claret drinker nostalgic for the wines of the ’60s and ’70s, you may find this satisfyingly classical, but for me the acidity is a little oppressive. To repeat, though, it is concentrated and deep and as such has merit. | 86
