Jesús Barquín: Very deep color. Serious and intense, smoked meat, licorice. Powerfully extracted and concentrated palate, with powerful tannins bordering on aggressive. There is also a sweet note that detracts in my opinion. 14.5
Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, opaque. Wild cherry and spice on nose. Creamy concentrated berry-cherry fruit with plenty of bitterness but plenty of sweetness too, good acidity. Serious Amarone of the Parker era—bursting with fruit and nicely balanced apart from a tendency to alcoholicity. Should last long. 17
Andrew Jefford: Dense, saturated, deep black-red; very dark in color for a 2006. An earthy, grunty, restrained aromatic profile. Deep, dark, and searching on the palate; relatively introverted in style, yet with lots of depth, extract, tannin, and inner resource. The more I go back to this wine, the more I like it. It unquestionably lacks the fl amboyance and charm of some of the other top-scoring wines, yet there is so much in here that you would be ill advised to overlook it. Give it time; it will last well. 17
