BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: Very dry, closed, and tight right now. The palate is dominated by tannin, and there is a vegetal note in the nose. Should improve with cellaring. 14.5

Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Clean but undeveloped nose, slightly tarry. Palate as nose, undeveloped, untogether, but promising —brambly fruit, firm acid as of not quite ripe blackberries; finishes on a slightly sour note, but sweetness is there. Possible improvement in future; drink in three years. 15

Andrew Jefford: Deep, near-opaque black-red in color. Soft cherry, plum, and prune, too, with a little sweet-tobacco leaf scent also. Slightly torpid in style: lacks aromatic organization and definition. The palate, though, is weighty, dense, close-textured, succulent; all of those red fruits are there, pressed tightly together, but there is some dark spice behind, with a little more of that moist tobacco and generous extract, too (though the wine isn’t particularly tannic). Young, promising, yet accessible now. Delicious. 15
