BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: Atypical nose, with toasty notes and bell pepper. The palate is wild; drying tannin, green finish. 12

Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep. Cherries and wood on nose. Fairly classic style on palate; good fruit, some sweetness cut by acid/tannins, cherry liqueur and herbs on finish. Grown-up wine of considerable class. 16

Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red in color. Sweet, warm, full; red and black cherry with some crushed-kernel complexity, though; smooth, sound aromatic profile. Full, deep, satisfying; a little dry toward the finish. This wine doesn’t have the inner depth, volume, or freshness to make old bones, but it serves well enough as an Amarone for current drinking. There’s a sweetness to the fruit, which brings flesh, and sound concentration levels. 15
