Jesús Barquín: Very warm and ripe nose, heavyish, with notes of cherry cola. The palate is intense and complex but too sweet, tiring, long. Anyway, not my cup of tea. I’d rate it higher as a Recioto or something in between, but it lacks the typicity of Amarone as I understand it. 13.5
Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Woody, fruit, a touch floral on nose. Good cherry fruit and balanced by firm acidity and ripe tannins. Finishes well. Good drinking now, but for how long? 14
Andrew Jefford: Dark, dense, semi-opaque black-red in color. Warm, sweet, fragrant; sun-dried red fruits. Faintly creamy. Concentrated, deep, and rather elemental in style; lots of fruit flavor, extract, and tannic sinew, but a slight easing of concentration through the middle palate. Nonetheless, this is a stylish and provocative Amarone, and its overall impact is commanding. Plenty of finishing spice layers, the vapors of which rise after the wine has disappeared, and you also realize in the finish how good (and how fruit-saturated) the acidity in this wine is. I sense there are fine raw materials and a clear sense of aesthetic vision. I like this drily uncompromising style. 16.5
