Jesús Barquín: Very deep and concentrated color. Spicy nose, with black pepper, cinnamon, lemon zest, and a vegetal note, too. The palate is sweeter than I would choose, with evident but earthy tannin, and the end shows again a green note that detracts. 14
Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Some berry fruit on nose but also a whiff of onions that fails to invite you into a wine that displays no defect yet does not inspire. Elements in place but no great harmony. 13
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red in color, not far off opacity. Beguiling, heady aromas of cherry and peach. On the palate, this is a smooth, ample wine with plenty of depth, texture, and extract, built on a core of vivid red fruits, summer fruits, squashy fruits, ripe fruits; and just a little meatiness to frame and shape all. Seamless and mouth-filling. Not a wine of huge polish or ravishing concentration, but very good nonetheless, and it would leave no Amarone fan unsatisfied. There’s a lovely freshness to the fruits here that is hard to resist. 16.5
