BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: So deep it is almost black. Serious nose still closed to some extent. The palate is too sweet for me, though, with cloying notes of cherry comfiture and vanilla. 14

Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep. Figgy fruit plus wood on nose, slightly risqué volatility. Medium intensity, ripe fruit on finish, cut by good acidity but a certain sweetness, hint of bitterness. Good, but why am I not more enthusiastic? Doesn’t quite light my fire. 14

Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red in color. Sweet, open, relatively simple aromas: a spoonful of strawberry jam stirred into a bowl of sweetened semolina. On the palate, this is smooth, vivid, lively—a wine of medium depth and amplitude. And there is something a little jammy and simple about the fruit quality. Adequate concentration, though, and satisfactory overall contours and shape. 13
