Stephen Brook: Straw. Bright pineappley nose. Rich, full-bodied, and creamy, with good weight and a beguiling silkiness. It’s quite high in alcohol but doesn’t have a burn on the finish; it’s also quite low in acidity. But the fruit quality is lush and heady, adding up to a seductive wine, if one that lacks subtlety and persistence. 15
Alex Hunt: On the nose, this Viognier really emphasizes the floral aspect of the grape, even straying into grapey-Muscat territory! After the pretty aromas, the palate is unfortunately thick and flabby—a sort of caramel macchiato without the redeeming bitterness. It finishes as abruptly as it starts, with no real beginning, middle, and end. 12.5
Andrew Jefford: Clear mid-gold. Lovely honeyed almond scents: Toblerone without the chocolate. There’s just a tickle of hop bract to freshen it up a bit. Excellent aromatic work. Lush, full, vivid, again strangely hoppy (reminding me of those distinctive Washington State hop varieties such as Cascade). Not a subtle wine in any way, but it embraces the spirit of Viognier wholeheartedly and there is lots here to engage with and to enjoy. 14.5
