Stephen Brook: Straw. Cooked fruit on the nose: apple pie, cloves. Ripe and juicy, full-bodied and creamy, with heft and swagger at the expense of finesse. But there’s ample fruit here, and it isn’t overblown, though it has quite high alcohol and comes close. Fairly low acidity means the finish lacks persistence. 14.5
Alex Hunt: This wine shows oddly heightened, non-varietal aromas of pink grapefruit, grass, and redcurrant; it could easily pass for a Sauvignon/Semillon blend. There is some bulge mid-palate, but really this is blunt, facile wine lacking in genuine texture and expression. 12.5
Andrew Jefford: Clear, mid-gold. Slightly murky, earthy aromas. Some apple-core fruit, which I associate more with Chenin than Viognier. A full-flavored but rather mechanical white wine; lacks aromatic intricacy and palate texture and richness. 13.5
