Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Berry and wood on nose. Rich and ripe, concentrated, good acidity, some drying tannins, but enough oomph to see it through the years. Has concentration but must develop charm. 15.5
Bruno Besa: Black core to pink, tawny rim. Mature, intense almost balsamic nose, with prunes, plums, and loads of aromatic herbs. Full-bodied and mature, balanced by the refined tannins and the long sweet fruit finish. Very good but not a masterpiece of elegance. 17
Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Hefty oaky nose, with dense aromas of black fruits. Rich, voluptuous, and dense, with fine depth of fruit, sweet tannins, and considerable concentration. This might all be overwhelming were it not for the acidity that slashes through the richness, though without astringency. It’s far from subtle, but it’s hedonistic. Quite long. 16.5
