Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep beginnings of turn. Some cherry on the nose, but early suspicion of cork turns out to be incorrect. More drainsy. Quite structured wine, with firm tannins and biting acidity, but also goodish fruit, which may take over in two to three years. But aromas don’t work. 13 The following revised note and score came after a re-tasting of the wine: There seemed to be some confusion as to whether this wine was corked, or defective in some way, so I asked for a substitute bottle to be sent to me and tasted it again a couple of weeks later. It seemed confirmed that the original bottle was of questionable quality, since the second bottle was perfectly clean and displayed classic Sangiovese characteristics with pronounced sour-cherry aromas on nose and palate and firm but ripe tannins. The only question mark is the acidity level, which is high, but that could help keep it for quite a long time. Revised score: 16+
Bruno Besa: Garnet to pink rim. A bit musty and oxidized. Fairly short and green. 11
Stephen Brook: Deep to very deep red. Discreet damson-and-cherry nose. Medium-bodied, supple, quite concentrated, but has more freshness than most wines thus far. There’s even a slight herbaceousness, but it’s welcome because it gives the palate some cut and definition. It’s chewy and has good varietal typicity. It’s not profound, but it’s balanced and close to refreshing. Good length. 17
