Jesús Barquín: The nose displays garrigue, lemon zest, cinnamon. Warm and expressive palate, with powerful but earthy tannin. The finish is marked by slate (llicorella) notes and Provençal herbs. Very young and wanting time in bottle. 16.5
Alex Hunt: Very closed, with a dry and dusty first impression, but actually there is succulent peach/blackberry fruit in there somewhere, as well as a mineral brightness. This is a full-scale wine: alcoholic, very rich, heaps of concentration. But it’s a gentle giant—the extraction is very sensitive, there is coherence and even some freshness here. It is an intoxicating mouthful in every sense but an ultimately satisfying one. 16.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark red, but not saturated. Round, warm, smooth, pastilley fruits: mellow and attractive, though not a wine of a thousand aromatic facets. It’s gently expressed but textured nonetheless, with some refinement and subtlety to the fruit. Unshowy—but the longer I spend with it, the more it grows on me. Priorat can often be showy but hard to drink; this is supremely easy to drink yet very satisfying withal. l ike the faintly tarry, stony finish, which brings some complexity; the tannins bring digestibility and gastronomic aptitude. All that holds it back from a top score is that lack of focus, precision, and finesse. 16
