Jesús Barquín: Serious, intense, tight nose. Mineral, graphite. Well-structured palate, with good balance of acidity, tannin, and alcohol. Packing lots of stuff but still too young. Should evolve positively in the next few years. 16
Alex Hunt: Dark fruit, closed, and a touch of farmyard stink. A bit savory and brutal at this stage in its life. I was hoping for some more fruit and breadth on the palate. 13
Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark black-red; a glossy sheen, too. The scents are meaty, vivid; the black fruits, a little pounded and youthful—thus in a way it seems closer to Vintage Port than some of its peers. With time, that savory side grows a little more prominent, and the aromas dry and close somewhat. There’s good depth of fruit and flavor, with squeezed sloe/elder depth, but the same slight overall dryness dominates the finish. A very good wine, and made with seriousness and ambition, though it doesn’t quite achieve the amplitude and aromatic resonance of the best. 16
