Jesús Barquín: Lightly toasted and spiced nose of black pepper and graphite. Powerful palate, but hot and excessive. Again, a wine that could belong to the stable of modern oversized Châteauneuf-du-Pâpe, Amarones, or Zinfandels. Not my cup of tea. While I may enjoy drinking the odd example, such abundance in so rapid a succession of similar examples tends to stress my patience toward the style. 13.5
Alex Hunt: Rich, caramelly, alcoholic; this has a thoroughly decadent nose but not without harmony. There is pretty blackberry fruit on the palate, too, but it is in danger of being swamped by alcohol: The fruit just isn’t strong enough to defend itself. 14.5
Andrew Jefford: Saturated deep black-red. Warm, full, shapely fruits with unusual complexity to them. It seems black-pastille-like at first, yet those scents grow and fill in the glass, acquiring a secondary slatiness as they do so. This is a soft, tongue-coaxing, mouth-filling wine with lovely ample caressing tannins: Latitude will out! Yet at the same time, it has lovely llicorella flavors behind that gently modulating fruit. Not showy, but very comely. I’d be so happy to drink this. 16.5
