Jesús Barquín: Concentrated and excessive already in the nose, with more than just a hint of varnishy VA and boiled vegetables in the background. Drying tannin is truly astringent. Not my cup of tea, and in any case there was no second bottle to confirm. 12
Alex Hunt: A lot of alcohol apparent on the nose, as well as a reductive stink. Thickly textured palate without much discernible flavor; rather muddy overall. 13.5
Andrew Jefford: Dense, dark, somber black-red. Rather reduced aromas, which a little instant decanting from glass to glass ameliorates. Not quite enough, though, to reveal the beauties we hope lie concealed beneath. The oak, too, is a further concealing factor. On the palate, this is a big, broad, masterful Priorat with impressive depth of flavor, structure, and force. The fruit is perfectly bonded to the wine’s sinews, and there is plenty of both. Resonant, expansive, mouth-filling; speckled with mineral complexities. Fine in every way, save for the reduction. Hard to score, thus: 16
