BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | Admirable sample, showing the most complex and racy nose at this stage of all the wine tasted in the Médoc: marvelous texture, noble tannins. It adds finesse to the power of the great Pauillacs and will become a great classic wine. | 19

Michael Schuster | Moderately rich, elegantly proportioned middleweight with a fine-textured, firmish tannin; briskly ripe, vital flavor with a nice aromatic complexity, if without the usual volume; long, gently sweet, and even to finish. Refined, discreet, complete Las-Cases, but very much at a less concentrated, less complex level, and lacking the grandeur it usually has. 2020–30. | 17
