Simon Field | Dense, inscrutable color. Very attractive nose of crushed raspberry, plum, and ripe fig; a generous and fulsome personality. On the palate, there is an almost caramel character, toffee apple, forward, butterscotch character; the tannins seem to be overwhelmed by the ripeness of the fruit. This will not want for adherents, but it’s not clear where it may go. Delicious now. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Saturated dense black-red; purple rim, and impressive glass-staining abilities. A very impressive nose: a big engine of fruit, throbbing away in the Port’s heart, draped by lots of vegetal sap and extract and some attractive floral notes. Exciting and promising. Rich, dense, extractive, and mouth-filling, with ample decked and layered richness on the palate. The acidity is a little lower than usual, and there is no evident freshness to the fruit—but the power and structure of the wine has more than enough to it to shape the sweetness and extravagance of the fruit. Super-solid and sweetly exciting. | 93
Richard Mayson | Glorious, ripe berry fruit emerging on the nose, with underlying depth and intensity, a symphony of ripe, even lush aromas. Reflected on the palate with broad, ripe, fleshy fruit and broad spicy tannins rising in the mouth; wonderful depth and concentration, with definition, dimension, and breadth on the finish. | 95
