Simon Field | Potent, youthful, playful, and appropriately enigmatic nose of flowers, woodsmoke, and hints of juniper and violet. Attractive already, in other words, the tannins firm but not overwhelming, the spirit assertive at the back. A rounded, voluptuous style, biding its time. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Dark, dense black-red with a purple rim; promisingly leggy. Lots of classy fresh blackcurrant and dried orange peel here: very attractive and alluring, and with a fresh, chic poise to it, which contrasts with its gruffer and more brutal peers. Fine, stylish, sumptuously aromatic Vintage Port. This is svelte and graceful by comparison to the most muscular of its peers, yet the concentration and drive of the fruit is very fine, the tannins are fine sewn yet ample, and the core of fruit takes the wine powering effortlessly forward. The fruits are very sweet yet retain enough of their primary grace to bring black cherry and blackcurrant to mind. Controlled and graceful, yet hugely impressive, too. | 95
Richard Mayson | Tight knit yet still a bit angular on the nose, with some well-defined fruit underlying. Similarly firm, tight knit, and still a touch austere on the palate, with bittersweet cherry fruit and intensity and a big, long, peppery, tannic finish. Not as broad as some but a lovely wine for the mid- to long term, nonetheless. | 92
