Tim Atkin | Spicy, savory, good acidity, and focus. Some minerality. Alcohol a little high. Tannic and firm and drying out a little. Firm finish. | 90
Simon Field | Full, rich color; raven black, tight rim. An impressive, aristocratic aroma; ripe blue and black fruit; not too ripe, but composed, chalky, poised tannins, firm acidity, and dark fruits, harmonious in support. There is a weight of expectation here; everything poised, jaguar-like, to deliver over the next few years. Today, it is unavoidably tannic. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Dense, dark, opaque black-red wine at the core, and black-garnet at the rim: very deeply colored for its age. Fine primary fruits, with fresh oak, too: still very young and crisply preserved, with lots of aromatic evolution ahead. Very deep and dense on the palate—extraordinarily so. This is still a wine in the very first stages of its life. The pure, searching, wild-plum fruits just detonate on the palate, and then the aromatic air is filled with sweet, enticing debris, but there is a lot of time ahead before the wine finds mature calm and resonance. A great cellar choice. Magisterial, and I can easily imagine this wine winning a still higher score after another half-decade or so. | 95
