Tim Atkin | Aromatic, wild herbs with a slightly medicinal top note. A little savory, light, and dried out. Fading a little. Full-bodied. | 88
Simon Field | Raven black, Byronic foreboding; nose of autumn leaves, lemongrass, and thyme; bitter chocolate and spruce; very appealing. There may be Brett here, but it has a positive message, ennobling the structure and broadening the scope of appreciation. The palate assumes a mocha identity, fir, gorse, and a patina of plum and wild strawberry. Reasonably evolved, not without gastronomic potential, such is the persuasive rigor of the shard of acidity running through the palate. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Saturated, deep, and dark for a 2015: Still opaque at the core, with a dense garnet rim. The aromas disconcert just a little: There is a tomato note inside the plum fruits, though in general they are broad, articulate, and attractive. Dense and searching on the palate, built on concentrated, long, driving fruits, pure and resonant. Clearly an outstanding wine, and meriting a high score. All that holds me back is that slightly false aromatic note, though I don’t see it on the palate, and it may be that more air would resolve the issue. Exemplary if so. Few wines can match this for concentration. | 93
