Tim Atkin | Classic 2013: light and a little green, but still alive. Chalky and well balanced, with some balsamic sweetness. Mature. Drink up. | 90
Simon Field | Youthful purple, a tight watery rim; nose of loganberry, pine spruce, and iron. Behind that, blueberries, camphor, and a hint of kerosene— fascinating, in other words. The palate is youthful and upstanding, with firm, chalky acidity and rigorous, finely etched tannins. Much more to give, but already it gives generously. | 93
Andrew Jefford | A deeply colored wine with lots of vibrant red, still; opaque at its core. Singular aromatically: pronounced sweet, mushroom fruits in rather insistent, monodimensional style. A touch of apothecary’s shop at the end (and some Band- Aid?). Lacks a little ease and resonance, but impressively deep for its vintage. On the palate, too, this is a very deep wine, with ample fruited intensity. The style is a slightly rigid one, and the aromatics don’t have fine-vintage warmth and amplitude. But that fruit core will still last for some years yet, and it is in general an impressive effort. | 90
