BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin | A touch of reduction and some smoky wood on the nose. Slight hint of Brett. Too much wood on the palate, with flavors of pastille and fig and a drying, slightly chewy finish. Maybe it just needs a little more time. | 88

Simon Field | Deep ruby, just a touch smudging; glycerol aplenty for sure. Nose of late-season flowers, with is just touched by a hint of volatility. More smudging; black cherries, bitter chocolate, and drying tannins at the end. There is petrichor grip here, imposing in youth and, one wonders, maybe imposing as the wine achieves its majority as well. | 88

Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red. An odd, slightly yogurty nose, with some oak evident; raspberry fruits beneath. It may be better in five minutes, so I will look again. After a short break, it still comes across as slightly lactic. Deep but unlovely on the palate due to that nagging lactic note in the fruit, though in terms of depth and breadth it competes well enough with many of its youthful peers. | 80
