Simon Field | Deep ruby core, an elegant and graceful patina, and complementary aromatics of morello cherry, dark chocolate, and forest floor, just a hint of spicy oak in the background. The palate is plumper than expected, almost voluptuous in its youthful exuberance; schistous tannins and stark acidity fail to disrupt the mood and the overall impression is pleasing and full of potential. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Saturated, dense black-red, with purple glints: purposefully deep. Fresh, menthol fruits with licorice spice, but a sweet sheen, too. Some hop leaf, also: complex and enticing, though oak plays a prominent place here. On the palate, the wine is intense and the fruits bright, but the balance is very acidic and, to my mind, would have been better with less oak. Super concentration, though, and with rich, fatty meat dishes (roast pork, for example) this would be very good. Lovely tannins and extracts, though of course the latter are bitter and garrigue-laden. | 93
Anthony Rose | Good depth of color, dark ruby, youthful. The aromas are alluring, showing a hint of oak spice as an attractive veneer on top of ripe dark berries; the fruit is opulently sweet and abundantly juicy, and from the first flavors it turns dense, almost chewy, but in a positive sense, that sensuality of texture, softened and rounded out by oak, adding a dimension to the fruit, supported by an attractive balancing freshness. | 92
