Simon Field | Onyx-dark, ebony at heart, with a very youthful, almost luminous, flamingo-pink at the rim. The aromatics are suitably reticent, woodsmoke, iodine, and crushed blueberry among them, a teaser at this stage rather than a willful synopsis. The palate has breadth, an expansive and confident exuberance, schistous grip, voices from the garrigue; resin and plum, a basket of potential. There is latent sweetness here; ripeness is all, but all the more impressive when shrouded by the aspiration of architecture. Worth a longer view. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark black-red with some purple; just off opaque, but a more deeply colored wine than most of its peers. Warm, savory scents: an attractive mix of subdued fresh fruits (cherry and plum) with forest warmth and plant complexities. Excellent. On the palate, this is deep, warm, and rounded, with admirable depth of fruit and innate complexity derived from blend and place. The cherry and plum are shot through with quinine and Indian-tonic bitterness from bark, twig, and leaf. An outstanding wine among its peers, with brilliantly judged ripeness and assured aromatic finesse. | 93
Anthony Rose | A good youthful ruby in color, this is attractively aromatic, blending dark-berry and spice elements nicely before releasing juicy dark-berry fruit flavors, framed by a light touch of oak in a muscular, youthful framework of tannins and acidity. Although this feels just a little young to drink at the moment, I have some confidence that it will soften down with a year’s further aging to become a very appealing red. | 90
