Simon Field | Attractive ruby color, bright and cheery, which somewhat belies the reduction on the nose. Syrah at work here, and as often, the Syrah deceives before flattering and will gradually open up, appropriately enough, smelling of roses. Other red fruit, too; there is also cardamom, blueberry, and even a hint of cinnamon—complexity guaranteed, in other words. Patience is required in this case, but the structure is in place; ditto the weight of fruit and therefore, demonstrably, the good will of the winemaker. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Clear, deep black-red. Sweet, warm currant and plum fruits with a little herbal complexity, though light-toned in general. Grassy and rather light on the palate, too, though clearly of its place and enjoyable as such, with food in the short to medium-term. | 85
Anthony Rose | Medium-ruby in color, just starting to show signs of evolution, there’s some ripe cherry in the aromas, which follows through in the taste, which is initially quite pleasant before being pulled up a little short by some youthfully sinewy tannins. So, this is a wine with quite a traditional feel that will give pleasure to some, while others might like to see a bit more fruit versus structure. | 87
