Simon Field | Dark color and a rather challenged, almost sweaty nose; are we in the Augean stables? Maybe it’s reduction, but the palate is challenging, and the tannins coat the wine with chilly indifference. | 86
Andrew Jefford | Deep black-red; near opaque, though no purple glints. Warm, full, and expressive on the nose, though with some mixed ripeness. Deep, sweet, and exuberant on the palate, too, with that same mixed-ripeness style, but lots to enjoy; dense, dark, and succulent. | 88
Anthony Rose | Medium-ruby, starting to show some evolution in the glass. This is quiet on the nose. There’s some sweetness of rustic fruit but a lack of vibrancy and some rather chewy, dry tannins involved. They could soften with a bit more age, but with this level of alcohol, you don’t want to see any more drying out of the fruit. | 85
