Simon Field | Dignified color; solid core then deep blood and bricky at the rim. Pleasant nose of violets, lavender, bilberry, and After Eight mints. The tannins have softened; the red fruit is still holding sway: alpine strawberry and a hint of mandarin. An instructive and appealing example; not too much has been ventured, but seemingly quite a lot has been gained. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Dark, dense, black-red, still opaque at the core, with a red rim. Oaky but quite balanced and attractive, the mint-toffee notes subtle and refined. Deep, vivid, and textured on the palate, with plenty of life there still, the fruits only just moving away from their primary incarnation. On the palate, the oak is less assertive than the nose suggested it might be—or this excellent-quality fruit stands up to it much better. Sound, pure, and engaging wine just moving toward maturity. | 90
Anthony Rose | A very healthy, relatively youthful ruby, this has a positive scent of evolution in its aroma, not a million miles from a reserva Rioja (perhaps some American oak here?), thanks to clearly well-handled spicy oak integration and richness. A concentration of dark fruit coats the tongue, which responds in a demand for food to go with this attractively sweet/savory, very well-balanced, albeit powerful Malbec. | 93
