Simon Field | Proud, deep purple—deep purple in rock, one had better not say; an almost luminous pink rim. Nose of bilberry, camphor, plums, violets, and lavender. Tight tannins override the palate, and the weight of fruit assumes a syrupy balm-like texture; dense velvet, almost defiant in the light of so much tannic support. A Byronic elixir, a cure to all but indecision. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Dark, black-purple fruits. Rather simple and coarse-grained on the aromas, without great refinement, though satisfying. Some attractive spice provides the most interest. Concentrated and long, though rather lean and acidic, without much wealth or firm flesh. Nonetheless, this is a wine of real quality and dense fruit. It certainly merits a 90-point score, and if the lean, racehorse-like style appealed to you, you might give it more. Lots of density and tenacity here, and perhaps further bottle time will bring more aromatic refinement in its wake. | 90
Anthony Rose | A vivid, primary ruby in color, this has an inviting, remarkably fresh, floral, and fruity fragrance, and it’s seriously well rendered, too. Though still in its first flush of youth, this is seriously juicy, with flavors of mulberry and damson, the suppleness of texture underpinned by a streak of vivacious freshness, making it extremely drinkable now, even if it should benefit from two to ten years of aging. | 94
