Simon Field | Midnight black, a narrow rim. Nose is plush, well upholstered, and expensive: compote, cassis, and hints of mocha. The palate handles this well, and although the tannins are chalky and just a little drying, there is sufficient red fruit, garlanded by vanilla pod, to ensure pleasure in the short, medium, and quite probably the longer term. Plush, but not overblown. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Dark, deep, and opaque black-red. Rich, raisin fruits, and warm, spicy oak: straightforwardly exuberant. A deep, vivid, and affable wine whose rich fruits have been amply oaked: classic New World appeal here. | 88
Anthony Rose | A bright, vivid ruby. This is sweetly, attractively aromatic, albeit just a tad dominated by a coconutty cocoon of charry American oak. This is less apparent in the taste, of black fruit, whose ripeness is just slightly undermined by a distinctly chewy dryness seemingly from a combination of oak and tannin, so when you add in the alcohol, you get quite a whack of non-fruit stuff going on that tends to overwhelm the Malbec itself. | 88
