Andrew Jefford | Dark, saturated red-black, still clearly opaque. One of the most deeply colored of all the Médoc wines. Fresh and pure, fine-grained, with a seductive synthesis of curranty fruits and meadow-flower warmth, fresh hay and spiced tobacco: impressive complexity for this stage in its evolution. Ample lift and charm, though in general more vegetal and plant notes than you would expect in a Pauillac. Tight and seizing, with dramatic acidity and drive: a bobsleigh ride of fresh, curranty, high-velocity fruits, plunging and impactful. The tannins are fine-grained and chamfered; the acidity is impressively fruit-bonded. All that’s missing is the purr of inner warmth to bring it all together. Stylish and energetic, though. | 92
Michael Schuster | Dense, mineral-tinged, blackcurrant-ripe fruit on the nose; full, fresh in acidity, with a firm but fine-grained tannin. Deep and sweetly ripe-fruited to taste, long and subtle and racy within its long-term frame; a complex, complete, refined, and aristocratic Pauillac, with plenty to offer as long as you are prepared to wait, to cellar for a decade and more. Very successful. 2032–45+. | 92
