Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | Glorious nose, with phenomenal diversity and aromatic freshness between pineapple, citrus fruit, and grape blossoms. Compete on the palate, admirably vinified. Not to be missed for all lovers of Sauternes. | 18
Michael Schuster | Two very different samples. 1, at the UGC tasting: Orange-hued gold; unctuous, fleshy, concentrated; a rich, sweet, generous, fairly complex wine, if without the class of the very best, and finishing with light length; just seems a bit flat and limp to finish after its up-front impressions. Not a great Rieussec. 2, at Lafite, a week later: Pale gold (not orange), fresh and vital to smell, typical 2013-vintage citrus zest and honey, a really fine nose; beautifully balanced, concentrated, and vital; very sweet and very long to taste, complex, lively, very nicely sustained on this occasion, and with fine, spicy, noble rot-infused length. Elegant, classy, complex Rieussec. Lovely; a completely different wine! | 18
