Stephen Brook | The nose shows ripe stone fruits and a hint of tropical fruit. Broad and sleek, this has ample fruit and narrowly avoids soupiness. There isn’t much lift or vigor, but it’s solid and has no rough edges. However, blandness is knocking at the door. Medium length. | 86
Simon Field | Buckwheat color, nose somewhat mute: Quince and cooking apples; hints of sherbet and nutmeg emerge with aeration. The palate indulges more, an oaky backdrop providing an ept interface with a shard of bright acidity. Precocious but upstanding, the quality of the fruit etched into the memory with a colorful plume... | 91
Andrew Jefford | Slightly fuller gold than many of its peers. Very attractive aromas. Some oak evident, but it works well, just filling in the background. Creamy apricot fruits fill the foreground. Articulate and rewarding now, and it will age well, too. Rich, full, mellow and almost unctuous, with ample wealth, depth and concentration. There is some stone at the very end, too, to bring balance. The acidity, by contrast, is discreet. More balance, too, from the tannins and “noble bitterness” in this expansive, mouth-filling, food-friendly St-Péray. Very good concentration and depth, too. | 91
