Stephen Brook | Unlike most of these wines, there’s a hint of citrus on the nose, with lime as well as apple aromas. The attack is supple rather than vivid, but there’s solid fruit here and good concentration. There’s little charm or subtlety, and it could certainly use more acidity, but it’s reasonably balanced and satisfying. The finish is dogged and lacks persistence. | 87
Simon Field | Lemon-straw color; a little earthy behind the citric fruit; the palate is more conventional, creamy oak and plenty of ripe fruit, more citric than exotic, flirting the spectrum nonetheless. Impressive at the front, with refreshing acidity, but maybe a little underperforming in the mid-palate and thereafter falling short. A whisper of oxidation intercedes from the wings... | 86
Andrew Jefford | Bright pale gold. Rich scents, harmonious and rounded, though with less fine detail than the best of its peers. Nonetheless, the sense of honey-saturated fruits is very appealing. Concentrated, full, and mellow in rounded, amply contoured style. Beautiful, pure, deep fruits here, with singing acidity, less “mineral” in texture than some but with great weight and concentration in the pure fruit spectrum. Hugely satisfying. Surely old vines? It sings and sings. All that’s missing is the multilayered, cream- textured effect in the best of its peers. | 92
