Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red. As classy an aroma as you always hope Phélan-Segur will have, with blackcurrant, tea-leaf, and fine suede all seamlessly mingled. Very fresh, appetizing, and appealing. This is beautifully concentrated, dramatic, and brisk, its ringing acidity incorporated into the close-knit blackcurrant and plum yet with no shortage of tannin and texture, either. With Phélan-Ségur you will never be getting lushness or succulence, but for out-and-out classicism and poise this is hard to beat. An outstanding effort. | 90

Michael Schuster | Restrained, ripe blackcurrant fruit to smell; very nicely balanced medium-full wine, fresh in acidity, finely dry in tannin; long, ripe, juicy, refined, complex, and subtle to taste, aromatic, complete, a notably fine Phélan, lovely, succulent wine. Chapeau! 2025–36+. | 92
